Position: Development Management Engineer - Section 38

Overview

Warwickshire County Council operates with a streamlined job description which encompasses both planning and technical approval/inspection work areas. The successful applicant will work in the team responsible for technical approvals where they will use their experience and knowledge gained to develop their career. The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers.

The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.

The Section 38 team, part of Planning & Environment, supports the continued economic regeneration of Warwickshire. The developments dealt with by the team vary in scale, location and complexity, and the team provides statutory highway advice to Local Planning Authorities, pre-application advice, and carries out technical approvals and inspections for new road adoptions associated with developments throughout the County.

Responsibilities
  • Be motivated, creative and organised.
  • Willing to take responsibility for the success of activities and make decisions independently.
  • Apply knowledge and experience of highway construction to ensure the delivery of high‑quality schemes.
  • Possess a relevant degree, a full relevant professional qualification or demonstrate significant experience managing large projects at a senior level.
  • A aptitude for communicating both verbally and in writing to liaise with internal and external colleagues and customers.
  • Due to the nature of the role, the ability to travel effectively throughout Warwickshire is essential.
Qualifications
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification, or demonstrable senior-level project management experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
