Cumbernauld, Glasgow | Shift: Monday to Friday, 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00 | Salary: £46,300
Looking for a Maintenance Engineer role where you can make a real impact on production performance while developing your skills with a well-established engineering team. Our client is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their busy manufacturing operation in Cumbernauld. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical background who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving, and working within a fast-paced production environment.
The successful Maintenance Engineer will play a key role in minimising downtime, improving plant reliability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery and equipment.
- Diagnosing and rectifying electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
- Working closely with production teams to improve plant performance and productivity.
- Investigating breakdowns and machinery speed losses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensuring spare parts, materials and maintenance resources are available when required.
- Recording maintenance activities and repairs to identify recurring issues and support continuous improvement.
- Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Multi-skilled engineering experience with a strong electrical bias.
- Ability to fault-find on single and three-phase systems, servo motors, AC motors, sensors and control systems.
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled machinery and electrical installations, including lighting and small power.
- Mechanical maintenance experience covering gearboxes, drive systems, rollers, shafts, pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Ability to strip down machinery to component level and rebuild equipment effectively.
- NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent preferred, although time-served engineers will also be considered.
- Strong communication skills, organisational ability and a proactive approach to maintenance.
