Dutton Recruitment (Sheffield Engineering) are recruiting for:
We are looking for a Health & Safety Officer for a permanent position based with our client in Sheffield.
Immediate start available (subject to interview process)
Salary is 40,000 to 45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
This will be working 40 hours per week.
Role Responsibilities:
- Promoting and embedding a strong, positive H&S culture at all levels
- Develop, implement & ensuring compliance with company policies, legal requirements and HSE management systems
- Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments of the workplace to identify potential hazards, maintaining detailed and accurate records.
- Investigate incidents and accidents thoroughly, preparing detailed reports on root causes/corrective actions.
- Preparing and reviewing risk assessments, SOPs and CoSHH assessments
- Chairing and attending HSE meetings as required
- Managing contractor control processes
- Delivering new starter inductions and supporting ongoing HSE training programmes
- Carrying out internal HSE audits, ensuring sites are always "audit ready".
- Supporting Environmental Management Systems, alongside senior management
- Collating HSE KPIs and performance data
- Provide training and guidance to staff on health and safety procedures.
- Staying up to date with current health and safety legislation, best practices, and industry standards.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience in a similar health and safety role or relevant field.
- NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent level of training
- Full UK driving licence (travel to local sites required)
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment - extra consideration given to candidates who can demonstrate H&S experience within hot metal working environments (Melting, Forging, Hot Rolling)
- Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation
- Experience conducting audits, investigations and developing documentation
- Confident communicator, comfortable engaging both shop-floor teams and senior management
- Proactive personality, solutions-focused and capable of driving change.
