Aircraft Maintenance/ Mechanic
As an Aircraft Technician Avionics you will keep our aircraft airborne by carrying out maintenance and repair work on the sophisticated electronic and onboard avionics.
What will you do?- Give the pilot real‑time access to comprehensive battle‑space information, and the ability to share sensor data and actionable information
- Ensure the high performance of aircraft radar, communication, reconnaissance and target acquisition equipment
- Repair on‑board technologies that select, arm and release weapons
- Maintain the systems that generate and distribute electricity on aircraft
- Provide engineering support to aircraft systems that are operated while in flight, or provide aircraft engineering support when the aircraft is deployed
- Travel overseas to support RAF aircraft and equipment on operations and exercises
- Be aged 16–47 years old (must attest before 48th birthday)
- GCSEs at grade C/4 or Scottish National 5s at grade C in English Language, Mathematics and an approved Science/Technology based subject
- Meet specific nationality and residency criteria (see below)
- Commit to a minimum 3 years after completion of specialist training

Nationality & ResidencyNationalities:
Must be a citizen of the United Kingdom or hold dual UK/other nationality.
Residency:
Must have resided in the United Kingdom for the 5 years immediately preceding the application, or a minimum of 3 years may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
Applicants must achieve a Security Check (SC) clearance.
Fitness Requirements- Physically fit to complete both initial and specialist training.
- Pass the Pre‑Joining Fitness Test (PJFT) – a 2.4 km run on a treadmill set to zero incline.
- Declare any previous spent and unspent convictions.
- Check eligibility under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
- Achieve the minimum security clearance of Security Check (SC).
- Membership or history with a group that stirs up racial hatred and violence.
- Waiting to appear in court or having unspent convictions.
- Misuse of drugs, solvents or anabolic steroids.
- Obscene or offensive tattoos, brands or bead implants.
- Permanent body piercings that do not close up.
- Undischarged bankrupt status.
