Production Engineer

Location: Shropshire

Salary: up to £45,000 + benefits

Job Description
  • Implement process improvements in production to optimise performance, OEE, ergonomics and capability.
  • Create CAPEX machinery & tooling specifications.
  • Coordinate introduction of new products (NPI) and tooling through trial builds & training.
  • Specification and facilitate implementation of MES, Industry 4.0, digitisation & automation.
  • Lead capability studies on new processes and equipment.
  • Review and improve SOP / work instructions, PFMEA, process control plans, process flow, standard operations and capability.
  • Optimise process flow, reduce defects and minimise waste using lean manufacturing methods – VA/VE, line balancing, Kaizen, Yamazumi.
Qualifications

You are already a competent Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, Industrial Engineer or Production Engineer with previous experience within high volume or large batch mechanical manufacturing.

  • HND/Degree level or equivalent education in engineering or similar technical discipline.
  • Proven experience leading process improvement and capital equipment (CAPEX) projects including specification, cost justification and vendor management to successful launch.
  • Lead PFMEA process for current and future projects.
  • Experience of high volume series production processes and equipment, ideally incorporating semi‑automated or fully automated product assembly.
  • Experience in automotive OEM, tier‑1 or similar fast‑paced high‑quality metrics environment.
  • Good communication skills for effective liaison and teamwork.
  • Hands‑on approach with problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work on several tasks or projects concurrently.
