Design Authority

Overview

The Design Authority (Mechanical / Project Engineer) role is based in Kidderminster. It offers a hybrid working pattern with up to two days remote per week. This permanent position offers a salary of £50,000 to £60,000 per annum plus benefits.

• Lead and own designs through the full engineering lifecycle.
• Manage engineering outputs and ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering inputs and guide project teams from concept to in‑service support.
• Lead DFMEAs, formal design reviews, and obtain technical approvals.
• Specify, oversee, and report on test, trial programmes, and hardware assessment.
• Act as the primary technical interface with customers and suppliers.

• Essential:
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Physics or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in an engineering development or design environment.
  • Strong grounding in materials, stress analysis, manufacturing and core engineering principles.
  • Experience with regulated or safety‑critical products.
  • Clear and effective communication of complex technical content.
• Desirable:
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
  • Experience with DFMEA and Design for Manufacture / Cost.
  • Exposure to EN9100 or other quality‑driven engineering environments.
  • Hands‑on testing, trials or hardware assessment experience.
