RoleWe are currently looking for an Environmental Advisor to join our growing team on the Clyde Commercial Framework (CCF) based at HMNB Faslane. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the delivery of one of the UK’s most significant defence infrastructure programmes, providing specialist environmental guidance across projects from Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) through to delivery.
Working within our SHEQS team and reporting to the Head of SHEQS (CCF), you will play a key role in developing environmental management arrangements, supporting project teams, and ensuring environmental compliance across the framework. This is an exciting opportunity to join the framework at an early stage of development, where you can make a meaningful contribution and help shape environmental excellence across the programme.
RoleResponsibilities
- Provide framework-level environmental support across multiple project delivery teams.
- Support projects in the preparation, implementation, and review of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and other environmental documentation.
- Offer specialist environmental advice to operational and support functions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as a key liaison between Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, the client, and where required, environmental regulators and statutory stakeholders.
- Support environmental permitting activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and project requirements.
- Advise on waste management strategies and good practice across construction activities.
- Assist project teams in identifying and managing environmental risks, impacts, and opportunities.
- Promote continuous improvement in environmental performance and sustainability practices.
- Support environmental inspections, audits, monitoring activities, and reporting requirements.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of framework-wide environmental management arrangements and initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with SHEQS colleagues and project teams to ensure environmental considerations are fully integrated into project planning and delivery.
- Degree qualified in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Geography, Ecology, or a related discipline.
- Membership of, or working towards membership of, the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
- Experience providing environmental support within the construction, infrastructure, civil engineering, or related sectors.
- Demonstrable experience producing Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and supporting environmental documentation.
- Working knowledge of environmental legislation, compliance requirements, and industry best practice.
- Experience supporting environmental permitting and waste management activities.
- Ability to build strong working relationships and effectively engage with project teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Experience working on defence, energy, nuclear, or other highly regulated infrastructure projects.
- Experience liaising with environmental regulators and statutory authorities.
- Understanding of environmental management systems and ISO 14001 principles.
- Chartered or Practitioner IEMA status or working towards professional accreditation.
