A well-established and reputable business in York is seeking a Finance Assistant to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis! This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your finance skills, gain exposure across a variety of tasks, and work within a supportive, dynamic team. The role offers a competitive salary of £27,000-£30,000, along with a generous benefits package including 29 days' holiday (including bank holidays), a 5% pension contribution, and flexible working options.

Responsibilities
  • Generate customer invoices and credit adjustments in line with internal guidelines
  • Reconcile daily transactions and bank activity, highlighting any inconsistencies promptly
  • Follow up on overdue accounts to support smooth cash flow operations
  • Administer petty cash and assist with posting journals and compiling financial summaries
  • Prepare Excel-based schedules and maintain the integrity of financial records
  • Provide flexible, ad‑hoc administrative and office support as required
  • Opportunity to get involved with reporting and gain exposure to management accounts preparation and related finance tasks
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years' finance experience
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all work
  • A proactive attitude, reliability, and clear communication skills
  • Confidence to use initiative and work independently
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with Sage 200 is desirable but not essential

We would be keen to speak with individuals who are currently in a Finance Assistant, Finance Administrator, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Officer, or similar role. You will need to be a team player who is confident speaking on the phone, with an excellent telephone manner.
