Join our growing retail client as their Company Accountant, where you will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of our Group's financial operations during a period of transition. Reporting directly to the Financial Director, this position is based in their head office in Belfast, offering a structured weekday schedule from 9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in managing financial systems and improving organisational processes.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for operational management.
- Manage all journals and final GL balances, including reviewing month-end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Group's accounting records and financial systems.
- Produce statutory accounts for the various companies within the division as required
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, continuously monitoring and reviewing performance against them to robustly report variances.
- Actively manage overheads while seeking out areas for efficiencies and savings.
- Ensure timely submissions and payments of VAT returns, complying with all relevant regulations.
- Liaise with various departments to ensure the Finance department supports the needs of the Division effectively.
- Liaise with auditors, tax advisers, brokers, bankers, and other parties as directed by the Financial Director.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Excellent communication skills and a strong team player.
- High attention to detail with a drive to deliver continuous improvement.
- Competent in the use of Excel and other accounting software.
