Management Accountant

We are now looking for a commercially minded, fully qualified Senior Management Accountant to join our talented finance team at our Kirby Muxloe head office. This is a high‑visibility role offering direct, regular exposure to our Group Financial Controller and CFO, where your insights will directly influence strategic business decisions.

As our Senior Management Accountant, you will take full ownership of our end‑to‑end monthly management accounts process. You won’t just be crunching the numbers—you will be interpreting them, presenting them to senior leadership, and business‑partnering with Heads of Departments across the company to drive performance.

• Management Reporting & Insight: Own the preparation of monthly management accounts, detailed P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting. Lead monthly review meetings with the Group FC and CFO, providing clear commentary and constructive challenge.
• Strategic Business Partnering: Act as a trusted financial advisor to non‑finance stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, actionable commercial insights.
• Financial Control & Compliance: Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, maintain internal financial controls, and take ownership of VAT computations and HMRC submissions.
• Audit & Statutory Support: Act as a primary point of contact for external auditors, preparing schedules, coordinating queries, and supporting statutory accounts preparation.
• Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify risks and opportunities, support the budgeting and forecasting cycles, and drive process efficiencies to enhance our reporting capabilities.

We’re looking for a resilient, solutions‑focused accountant who thrives in a fast‑moving, multi‑site environment and has the confidence to challenge the status quo.

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
• Strong management accounting experience gained within retail or a similarly fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
• Proven experience owning end‑to‑end management accounts, solid understanding of UK VAT/statutory requirements, and advanced Excel skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of presenting financial data clearly to senior stakeholders.

• Experience specifically within discount/value retail or multi‑site operations.
• Experience actively coordinating and supporting external statutory audits.
