About your teamWithin the Operational Tax Group we provide oversight and advisory support to the various business areas in relation to product, customer and client tax compliance. We work with the respective business areas to manage and develop their products and solutions, ensuring they are compliant with relevant tax legislation and guidance, and monitor ongoing product compliance to ensure Fidelity meets all of its tax regulatory obligations.
Aboutyour role
Reporting to the Head of Product and Operational Taxes, you will work closely with our Global Platform Solutions business, primarily with their Workplace Investing Business administering workplace pension schemes, and also with our retail platform providing personal pension and other products directly to investors and via IFAs. Knowledge of PAYE rules, ISAs, FATCA, CRS and other product taxes will be useful.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Head of Product and Operational Taxes on tax business partnering and advice to the business on all initiatives, including potential tax exposures and risks, and recommend actions to senior staff.
- Provide tax and technical support on matters relating to Product Tax compliance and reporting to customers and HMRC.
- Provide subject‑matter tax expertise to support technical input and sign‑off for projects and updates related to new product launches and legislative changes, ensuring the business meets its Product tax obligations and liaising with tax authorities, auditors and advisors as required.
- Assist in the development and improvement of relevant Product tax systems and processes to deliver an efficient tax service to the business.
- Maintain a good technical knowledge of relevant Product tax issues, monitor changes in legislation, assess their impact on Fidelity and provide clear briefing to tax and non‑tax specialists.
- Identify and communicate Product tax risks to relevant risk teams and the business in a way that is understood by both tax and non‑tax specialists.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate stakeholder network across the Group and externally, liaising with key business contacts, industry bodies and consultants to ensure smooth management, communication and resolution of Product tax issues.
- Maintain Product Tax Risk Control Frameworks to understand Product tax processes across the pensions and ISA businesses of the group, identify and introduce necessary changes.
Skills and Qualifications
- Preferably a recognised professional financial qualification (e.g. CTA, AIIT, CA, ACA) or equivalent, or relevant financial services industry knowledge and experience of Product taxes.
- Preferably a member or fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation or with sufficient tax experience to maintain up‑to‑date professional knowledge of Product Taxes.
- Good knowledge of UK Tax Acts, regulations and HMRC guidance, particularly as they apply to UK pensions and savings product taxes, with awareness of FCA reporting requirements and other regulatory bodies.
- Ability to develop and maintain an in‑depth commercial awareness of products offered within the Fidelity Group and the regulatory requirements and business strategy impacts.
