Accountant, Financial Reporting, Financial Analyst

Location: Wallington

We’re partnering with a successful construction business experiencing continued growth, as they look for an Accountant to join their finance team.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is an office based, hands-on role covering management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end reporting and wider financial operations. You will take ownership of key areas of the accounts while supporting the wider finance function and contributing to ongoing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of key balance sheet areas, including reconciliations, controls and timely resolution of outstanding items.
Support the Finance Manager with month-end, year-end, management accounts, P&L reporting and financial analysis.
Prepare and review balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Support day-to-day finance operations including purchase and sales ledgers, invoicing, payment runs and general accounting.
Manage corporate card reconciliations, ensuring transactions are accurately coded, supported by appropriate documentation and reconciled promptly.
Provide financial information and analysis to support commercial and management decision-making.
Contribute to process, control and system improvements, helping to strengthen the wider finance function.
Key Skills & Experience

Part-qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or actively studying towards one of these qualifications.
Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, with a good understanding of P&L and balance sheet accounting.
Strong experience with balance sheet and bank reconciliations, including investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Good understanding of purchase and sales ledgers, invoicing, payment runs and general accounting processes.

Experience with corporate card reconciliations, including accurate transaction coding and supporting documentation.
Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, SUMIFS and XLOOKUP
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage deadlines, prioritise workloads and work effectively within a busy finance team.

Experience with Sage 200 or a similar accounting system would be beneficial.
