Legal Finance Manager

Location: St James's

We are seeking a Finance Manager to lead our Finance Team, ensuring efficient financial operations within our firm. This role is ideal for someone with significant experience in a finance function, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment. The successful candidate will manage various financial processes including legal cashiering, billing, credit control, and accounts payable. Day-to-day of the role:
Finance Team Management:
Manage and develop the Finance Team, allocate workloads, and monitor performance. Provide coaching and training, and promote a collaborative environment. Client and Office Account Receipts and Payments:
Oversee daily transactions, ensure compliance with SRA Accounts Rules, and manage bank reconciliations and client account transfers. Billing and Credit Control:
Manage the billing process, resolve billing queries, oversee the credit control function, and monitor aged debt. Purchase Ledger:
Ensure timely processing and payment of invoices, maintain supplier accounts, and oversee employee expenses. Financial Reporting and Management Information:
Assist in preparing financial reports, manage month-end processes, and support budgeting and forecasting activities. Accounting Tasks:
Handle quarterly commission payments, partner capital requirements, and ensure accurate financial records.

General Responsibilities:

Undertake ad hoc projects to improve financial processes, maintain confidentiality, and comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Required Skills &

Qualifications:

Proven experience in finance within a law firm or professional services. Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and client money handling. Experience managing a finance team and working closely with senior management. Skilled in financial reporting, month-end processes, and reconciliations. Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively.
