Location: Derbyshire

Contract Type: Fixed-term until 31st March

Hours: Full-time (flexibility required for occasional evenings and Saturdays)

We are seeking a professional, confident, and assertive Environmental Health Officer on behalf of our client to join their team on a short-term contract. This role involves working within a local authority setting, delivering high-quality services to protect public health and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

• Take enforcement action in accordance with Trading Standards and Environmental Protection legislation.
• Instigate legal proceedings and statutory enforcement where appropriate.
• Communicate effectively with members of the public, stakeholders, colleagues, and external agencies.
• Demonstrate awareness of equalities and diversity issues in service delivery.
• Apply negotiation skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.
• Maintain a commitment to customer care and professional standards.

• Education: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade A-C or equivalent).
• Driving Licence: Full UK licence with business insurance (ideally).
• IT Skills: Competent in using information technology systems.
• Experience:
  
  Practical Trading Standards Officer (TSO) training within a local authority.
  • Previous enforcement experience under Trading Standards legislation.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Protection legislation and procedures.
• Personal Attributes:Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Professional, confident, and able to handle demanding workloads.
