Position: Comms and Engagement Lead (Contract)
Location: Westminster Abbey

Contract Length: 6 months (extension TBC)
Day Rate:
Up to £575 per day (Inside IR35 – via umbrella)

Location:

Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in the office (London, Bristol, York or Newcastle)
Security Clearance: BPSS
Interview Process:
One-stage interview via Teams (informal call)
Digital Requirement:
Primarily non-digital

We are seeking experienced Communications and Engagement Leads to support a high-profile, fast-paced government programme. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a complex and evolving policy environment, supporting senior stakeholders and delivering high-quality communications across a broad network.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and deliver strategic communication and engagement plans aligned to ministerial priorities.

* Act as a trusted advisor to Directors and senior leaders, translating complex policy into clear stakeholder messaging.

* Review and refine communications materials, ensuring consistent, high-quality outputs.

* Coordinate stakeholder engagement activity and support managers with significant stakeholder portfolios.

* Build and maintain strong cross-government and external relationships.

* Provide light-touch team leadership, including prioritisation and oversight of deliverables.

* Evaluate engagement effectiveness using feedback and insight to drive improvement.

Requirements

* Proven experience in strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.

* Confidence influencing and advising senior leaders.

* Ability to simplify complex, policy-heavy information for diverse audiences.

* Experience working in fast-paced, high-profile programme environments.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
