Trainee Seafarer - Bluemull - SIC

Educated to National 4, or equivalent such as Standard Grade / GCSE.

Ability to pass a seafarer medical examination and obtain an ENG1 medical certificate. Details of the examination can be found in Merchant Shipping Notice 1866 amendment 1. The examination will be conducted by an approved Maritime and Coastguard Agency Physician.

The post holder must commit to attending college as directed and to follow approved courses of study, in order to obtain all qualifications to meet standards of Deck Rating Grade 2.

• Personal Survival Techniques (STCW A-VI/1-1)
• Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/1-2)
• Elementary First Aid (STCW A-VI/1-3)
• Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (STCW A-VI/1-4)

During the first few months aboard the post holder will be closely supervised, whilst they work towards obtaining seatime for further training.

The successful candidate will be supported to become fully competent in the role and progress through the career grade.
