SEND Tribunals & Mediations Officer
We are seeking an experienced SEND Tribunals & Mediations Officer to join a busy Education and SEND service on an interim basis. This is a key role supporting a local authority in managing complex SEND casework, disputes, and tribunal processes.
Location: Hybrid working – primarily remote, with occasional attendance required at a local authority office in the South East (travel may be required).
Contract: Interim – minimum 3 months. Immediate start required.
Rate: £400 per day (umbrella).
- Represent the Local Authority at SEND Tribunals, defending proposed service provision
- Manage complex SEND casework, mediations, and dispute resolution between families, schools, and professionals
- Prepare detailed evidence and responses for complaints, enquiries, and Ombudsman investigations
- Monitor and track tribunal cases and outcomes to support service improvement
- Work collaboratively with parents, schools, legal representatives, and multi-agency partners
- Strong knowledge of current SEND legislation and statutory processes
- Significant experience in SEND case management, including appeals and tribunals
- Proven experience in mediation and dispute resolution
- Confident representing a Local Authority in tribunal settings
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a complex caseload independently
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure
