Trading Standards Officer
Full Time, Fixed Term - 12 months
We have an exciting opportunity to support a growing programme of work tackling the illegal supply of tobacco and vapes. This dynamic and evolving enforcement area focuses on regional action and increasing local authority engagement.
You will be attached to the South West Regional Investigation Team (SWRIT), hosted by Bristol City Council, working closely with the Regional Illegal Tobacco Officer (RITO) and partner agencies to deliver intelligence‑led activities and disrupt illegal supply networks.
Responsibilities- Support and develop regional activity targeting illegal tobacco and vape supply.
- Collaborate with local authority Trading Standards services and partner agencies.
- Assist with intelligence development, operational planning, and enforcement activity.
- Contribute to a coordinated regional response to an emerging and complex area of criminality.
- Support delivery and reporting requirements associated with HMRC’s Track and Trace system.
- Assist the Regional Illegal Tobacco Officer (RITO).
- Experience with in Trading Standards or a related enforcement/investigative environment.
- Confidence working across organisational boundaries and building strong partnerships.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Adaptable and comfortable working within a changing work area.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The role involves extensive travel across the South West region.
