Enjoying unique lifestyle opportunities, St Helena Island is a self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. Although better placed to develop economically and socially as a result of opening our international airport in 2017, we are not at the stage of self-sufficiency and therefore remain dependent on UK government aid. The Royal St Helena Police comprises of a Director of Police, a CI, two Inspectors, one Detective Inspector, five Sergeants including one DS and 22 Constables including three DCs.

You will utilise a range of appropriate investigative approaches to gather material, placing the victim at the centre of all actions and decisions, to safely and effectively investigate serious and complex crimes with a view to achieving an appropriate outcome for that investigation.

As you liaise and work with other investigators, specialists and managers you will establish and use appropriate methods for gathering material and developing procedures.

An Accredited Detective (PIP2 trained or equivalent), you are joint investigation trained and have conducted ABE interviews. Broadly experienced as an investigator within a serious or complex crime investigation environment, you have investigated sexual offences against children and/or vulnerable adults and have a background in complex information gathering and problem solving. You must be under 60 on the date of appointment.

In addition, you must demonstrate our core values of fairness, integrity and teamwork and use your diverse expertise and experiences to ensure your time on the Island has the broadest benefit to St Helena. As an officer funded through the Technical Co-Operation Programme you will be expected to share your knowledge and skills beyond the workplace contributing to workforce, community and capacity development in St Helena.

• Annual Pension Contribution of 7.5% of salary
