Full Time, Permanent Are you confident working with communities, partners and businesses to resolve neighbourhood problems? We are recruiting full-time Neighbourhood Enforcement Officers to help make Bristol’s neighbourhoods safer, cleaner and greener.

This is a varied front-line role in which you will investigate concerns and use prevention, education, partnership working and proportionate enforcement to secure lasting improvements.

You will deal with issues including noise, pollution, licensing, waste, fly tipping, highways and other neighbourhood priorities.

Working to a Neighbourhood Enforcement Team Leader, you will manage cases, gather evidence, interview people and apply relevant legislation.

You will be expected to take timely, robust and measurable action while working constructively with council colleagues, partner organisations, community leaders and residents.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Investigate neighbourhood and environmental concerns, understand and apply relevant legislation, and identify practical solutions.
  • Use informal and formal enforcement tools, including warnings, notices and fixed penalty notices, to address high-frequency issues such as littering, commercial waste, noise, fly-tipping and highway obstructions.
  • Interview people, gather and assess evidence, maintain accurate digital records and prepare cases for conferences, prosecutions or other formal action where required.
  • Work with communities, colleagues and partner organisations to resolve problems, including complex issues involving pollution control, licensing, fly-tipping and highways encampments.
  • Communicate and negotiate effectively in difficult or challenging circumstances while providing a professional, inclusive and customer‑focused service.
What We Are Looking For

You will have the ability to understand and apply legislation and undertake investigations in a regulatory or enforcement setting. You will be able to interview people, analyse complex problems and select appropriate enforcement options.

You must also be able to work credibly with a wide range of stakeholders, use modern digital technology and demonstrate a clear commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
