An exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant within the Community Learning Disability Team based in Solihull.
The post serves adults with learning disabilities in Solihull. The successful candidate will support the work of the Speech and Language Therapists and the wider Learning disability team, working under the direction and supervision of the Lead Speech and Language Therapist. Duties include administering therapy programmes, preparing resources, and participating in training.
Main duties- Provide clinical and non‑clinical support to SLTs.
- Implement therapy programmes for individuals and groups.
- Modify approaches within programmes to meet individual needs.
- Prepare resources and plan therapy sessions.
- Maintain clinical records and participate in supervision.
- Assist AAC users and write communication profiles as supervised.
- GCSE Mathematics (C) or equivalent.
- Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and/or in a community learning disability team.
- Experience delivering speech & language therapy programmes devised by a speech & language therapist.
- Knowledge of learning disabilities and associated communication difficulties.
- Skills in planning and delivering speech & language activities with adults with learning disabilities.
- Awareness of assessments and treatment approaches relevant to the client group.
- Own transport and a valid UK driving licence.
- Strong communication skills, including the use of AAC where appropriate.
- Good organisational and planning ability.
- Ability to work autonomously under supervision.
- Positive attitude, empathy, and professionalism.
- Willingness to travel across multiple locations.

As required, a DBS check will be conducted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
