Overview

We’re looking for a Lead Dietitian to join our Paediatric team, supporting the Paediatric Gastroenterology service and the Paediatric ward settings. You’ll be welcomed into a truly diverse, multi-talented department where everyone’s background and perspective are valued.

Responsibilities
  • Independently manage a caseload of Gastroenterology patients, complex nutritional and complex ward patients both on our paediatric ward and as outpatients, providing expert nutritional assessment, advice, and support.
  • Develop and review complex patient plans balancing the importance of nutrition alongside complex gastroenterology, surgical and medical care needs.
  • Attend regional meetings and be the dietetic lead for our paediatric PN. As the band 7 ward dietitian, lead on this area, managing the band 6 and band 5 dietitians within this.
  • Work closely with our multidisciplinary teams, contribute to service development, and act as a role model for our PRIDE values.
  • Have strong clinical knowledge, empathy, and the ability to adapt in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent communication, organisational skills, and a commitment to ongoing learning are essential.
Typical Decisions You’ll Make
  • Adjusting nutritional care plans including PN in response to changing clinical needs including surgical.
  • Prioritising your workload to balance direct patient care, MDT meetings, and service improvement projects.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise within the MDT to advocate for best care for complex, vulnerable patients.
