Role DescriptionThis role is for 25 hours a week for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker located in Swindon. As a Domestic Abuse Support Worker, day-to-day tasks include providing support to individuals affected by domestic abuse in the BAME community, ensuring their safety and well-being, and connecting them with necessary resources and services. The role also involves liaising with other professionals, offering technical support, and maintaining accurate records of service users' situations and progress.
- Must be able to speak Hindi or Konkani as well as fluent in English
- Evening and weekend will be required
- Must have an understanding of BAME community culture
- Engage with BAME communities focusing on individuals experiencing domestic abuse
- Facilitate workshops and seminars to raise awareness on domestic abuse
- Experience as a Support Worker/ Domestic Abuse Support role
- Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills
- Knowledge of Safeguarding practices
- Ability to work effectively in a team, as well as independently
- Empathy and understanding towards individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Relevant qualifications in social work, psychology, or related fields are preferred
