Health Care Support Worker

Alder Ward is a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) currently recruiting Six Health Care Support Workers.

Shifts include long days and nights, as well as weekends and bank holidays, arranged on a rota basis and confirmed in advance by the Ward Manager.

Successful candidates will become part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high standards of care to adults with complex mental health needs within the Cardiff and Vale area.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic and have a positive attitude to assist the team in caring for patients with mental illness.

Successful candidates should have excellent communication skills, and the enthusiasm to take forward new approaches and ensure the highest quality of care is delivered.

Job responsibilities

Alder Ward offers a welcoming and supportive environment, with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. Our team includes a dedicated PICU consultant, experienced registered nurses, health care support workers, and an occupational therapist, with access to physiotherapy and psychology services.

We are recovery-focused and committed to continuously improving the patient experience while supporting staff through ongoing development and training.

Previous experience in a PICU setting is desirable but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Good Standard of numeracy and Literacy
  • NSQ level 3 in Health and Social Care (Or Equivalent)

Experience
  • Previous Experience in a hospital or health care environment
