Health Protection Assistant is a multi-skilled role within the Health Protection Team. The post holder will use their skills, experience, and learning to contribute to a strong, sustainable, integrated Health Protection Service for Powys.
Work across the service as part of an agile multidisciplinary team and will initially support the following areas, although will not be constrained to these areas, for the service:
- Health Protection
- Emergency Planning
- Health Improvement
Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contribute to the management of infectious and environmental hazards in Powys, support the response to any health protection incidents and support proactive health protection and promotion projects. Working under supervision, the postholder will be expected to provide health protection advice to the public, professionals, and a range of partner organisations. Support a variety of health protection projects, as identified by the Health Protection Leadership Team.
Able to work from office, home, or travel to sites within Powys to support community work and outreach activities.

Activities:
Undertake delegated proactive health protection project work and activities to promote behavioural change interventions for Powys residents and communities e.g., homeless communities, in line with agreed protocols. - Assist with delegated case management, under supervision, and provide health protection advice to the public, professionals, and a range of partner organisations.
- Participate in incident/outbreak management, (including sampling and contact tracing), according to national and local guidance/SOPs.
- Engage with seldom heard voices to reduce health inequalities to ensure an equity of health protection delivery service across Powys.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
