main duties of the joban exciting opportunity has arisen for a
quality improvement practitioner
to join the powys teaching health board quality improvement team, supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe and effective services through structured quality improvement activity.
the post holder will work as part of the quality improvement and transformation function, leading clinical and corporate teams to apply quality improvement methodology in a practical, hands‑on way. The role will lead on service improvement, redesign and transformation initiatives aligned with health board and national nhs wales priorities.
this post is well suited to an individual with experience of working within healthcare or public services who is developing their improvement practice and is keen to support teams to achieve measurable and sustainable improvements.

job responsibilitiesthe post holder will lead quality improvement activity across the health board, applying recognised improvement methodologies at practitioner level with appropriate guidance and supervision. They will contribute to both health board and national improvement priorities, ensuring that improvement work aligns with strategic objectives. The role includes maintaining accurate records, project documentation and improvement data, as well as supporting the reporting and evaluation of improvement activity.
In carrying out these responsibilities, the post holder will actively promote a culture of learning, reflection and continuous improvement, while ensuring that all work reflects equality, diversity, welsh language standards and the core values of the organisation.
the quality improvement practitioner will:
- lead services to undertake quality improvement projects using recognised methodologies such as the model for improvement and pdsa cycles
- work autonomously with teams to define problems, set aims, identify measures and test changes in practice
- lead the collection, analysis and presentation of data to inform improvement and monitor progress
- enable teams to understand variation, outcomes and patient experience as part of improvement work
- provide practical support to improvement initiatives, including project coordination and documentation
- contribute to quality improvement learning events, workshops and team‑based sessions
- support the spread and sustainability of improvement work within and across services
