Location: St Kew Highway

Role Overview

The Practitioner Psychologist will work as part of the in‑house clinical team at Red Moor School, a specialist day school supporting children and young people aged 5‑18. This role delivers psychological assessment and intervention for pupils with developmental trauma, neuro‑divergent profiles or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, within the standards set out in the OFG Psychological Practice Ways of Working.

Key details:

  • Salary: Up to £60,000 FTE (DOE)
  • Hours: 15 to 22.5 hours per week (08:30‑16:30, Mon‑Fri; days to be agreed)
  • Contract: Permanent, term‑time only; flexibility around full‑time contract can be discussed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychological assessments and develop intervention plans for pupils.
  • Hold a psychological caseload with full support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Provide clinical training, staff consultation and contribute to school development.
  • Apply trauma‑informed and neuro‑diversity best practices, following HCPC standards and OFG guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, observation logs and intervention reports.
  • Engage collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families and external agencies.
  • Participate in service evaluation and continuous professional development.
Essential Criteria
  • Registered Educational/Forensic/Counselling/Clinical Psychologist.
  • Doctoral‑level degree in Clinical/Counselling/Forensic/Educational Psychology (or equivalent).
  • Relevant previous experience working with pupils or children requiring psychological support.
  • Experience in effective multi‑disciplinary working and with both clinical and non‑clinical professionals.
  • Strong communication skills when working with families, carers and external agencies.
  • Ability to plan, deliver and review interventions using a model of “assess, plan, do and review”.
  • Competence in core areas of psychological practice, meeting HCPC practice standards.
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed practice, neuro‑diversity and related client needs.
  • Proficiency in developing formulations and informing others’ intervention plans.
  • Capability to write coherent, accurate clinical records and reports.
  • Effective IT skills for core computer programmes and platforms.
  • Strong time‑management, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Commitment to CPD and to the values of Outcomes First Group.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience working with a specific client group such as neuro‑diverse, SEMH or residential care settings.
  • Experience providing supervision to other professionals.
  • Knowledge of current philosophies and principles underpinning services for the relevant client group.
  • Understanding of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
  • Post‑qualification training in topics related to the role, service and/or client group.
  • Training in evidence‑based interventions/approaches.
