Job Description
Location: Clonlee Private Nursing Home, 132 Belfast Road, Muckamore
The role of the Senior Staff Nurse is a new role in Clonlee Nursing Home. This individual will be responsible for working with the Deputy Manager and Care Home Manager in leading the team in the Home to provide the highest standards of Person‑Centred Care to Residents. The Senior Staff Nurse will work between delivering nursing shifts on the floor in line with the staff nurse rota as well as delivering supernumerary hours dedicated to office/management and leadership duties to ensure compliance with all areas of governance of the Home.

The Senior Staff Nurse’s Key Additional Responsibilities Include- Take charge of the Home in the absence of the DM/Care Home Manager
- Work supernumerary hours to delivery office/management duties as part of each working week
- Ensure safe and effective clinical practice at all times on duty
- Manage and support the DM and Care Home Manager in the development and performance of the team
- Contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s objectives meet both HCH And RQIA standards
- Completion of Home staff rotas as required
- Promote Hutchinson Care Homes core values, acting as a role model for the organisational values and champions what this means across the Home on a practical level on daily basis.
- Put into practice and instil and support others to demonstrate the importance of an excellent customer experience for all residents and their families across the Home.
- Encourage constructive feedback from residents, families, colleagues and other professionals to feed into the ethos of continuous improvement.
As above, this role will require allocated supernumerary hours and staff nurse hours each week.
Additional Duties As Senior Staff Nurse- Have the knowledge and expertise to act appropriately in emergency situations and be able to direct and manager others with the same (Refer company policies and procedures.)
- Complete necessary audits personally and ensure delegation of audits to staff nurse team as required to meet HCH And RQIA standards
- Deal with complaints in a proactive manner and report complaints to the line manager, take the lead and assist with investigations as required.
- Participate in quality assurance and service development programmes thereby improving the quality of care.
- Observe and ensure confidentiality in relation to all aspects of work.
- Ensure full understanding of and compliance with company policies and procedures, acting as a role model and champion of same across the team in the Home.
- Ensure the safe keeping of residents’ belongings and valuables in accordance with company policy.
- Take the lead in induction of new staff as required and support with the induction and ongoing development of new staff in all roles across the team in the Home.
- Ensure full compliance and completion of necessary documentation for all incidents/accidents as appropriate and ensure all staff on duty are aware of same.
- Ensure full compliance and completion of process in relation to safeguarding issues including but not limited to APP 1 forms.
- Proactively manage the team in the Home ensuring all staff are maintaining a high and safe standard of resident care.
- Lead and supervise the staff team to ensure that shifts run smoothly, delegating as appropriate and supporting with performance, absence management, personal hygiene, PPE, general appearance and adherence to uniform policy.
- Take the lead in the induction and ongoing development of staff in the Home.
- Carry out supervision and appraisals with staff as required, ensuring two‑way engagement with staff, sharing and listening to constructive feedback.
- Proactively manage staff on the floor ensuring excellent levels of care, proper use of PPE, infection control and general management of the environment within the Home.
- Take the lead in investigations and/or employee relations issues/processes within the Home as required.
