The Gynaecology Outpatient Department (GOPD) consists of specialist clinics that manage a range of conditions, including general gynaecology, urogynaecology, and oncology. The department consists of consultations as well as minor procedures.

You will work alongside a team of Consultant Gynaecologists who work within the department, each bringing expertise in their own area of specialism. Patients are supported throughout their visit by a dedicated team of experienced gynaecology nurses, ensuring high-quality and continuous care.

In addition, the Gynaecology Oncology service offers ongoing support to oncology patients throughout their treatment pathway, with specialist staff present during oncology clinics to provide tailored care and guidance.

Early pregnancy Assessment Unit

The Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) is a specially designated area for caring for and managing complications early in pregnancy, between 6 – 18 weeks gestation. These may include vaginal bleeding or abdominal pain. Conditions such as ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy or recurrent pregnancy losses may lead to a review in this area.

You will work closely with the nurse sonographer team in meeting patients’ needs.

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, you will work with all members of the Ward/Department clinical team within the multi-disciplinary framework, maintaining a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Ward/Department Sister/Charge Nurse.

In the absence of a more senior member of staff, you will act as a leader in the clinical area, working in accordance with the principles set out by the Nursing/Midwifery professional bodies and Trust Policies.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focus, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.
