About the Role

We are looking for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Oak Tree School. You will work collaboratively with the education team to deliver bespoke assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, taking into account the requirements of governing and professional bodies.

You will hold a speech and language therapy caseload with full support from your clinical supervisor and site lead, and contribute to staff training and consultation as required.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with complex communication needs.
  • Maintain a person‑centred, empowering practice, putting pupils at the forefront.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support staff training.
  • Adhere to OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and professional standards.
  • Support pupils in developing independence within an educational setting.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered or equivalent professional body registration.
  • At least 2 years experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting.
  • Experience engaging with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working across a range of settings.
  • Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers.
  • Strong relationship‑building, analytical, and judgemental skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective time‑management and organisational abilities.
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and a clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types, and support plan formulation.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation for clinical practice.
  • Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications.
  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication.
  • Understanding of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car (Highly desirable).

Additional Support
