As an Out of Hours Driver, you will facilitate patient home visits by safely transporting our clinicians to and from appointments during evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Your contribution will help us maintain seamless and efficient services, ensuring patients can access the urgent care they need when they need it most.
Our Worcestershire OOH service covers the county with sites in Kidderminster, Redditch, Worcester, Malvern and Evesham.
We are looking for drivers to cover gaps in the rota – shifts are 23:00‑08:00 or 00:00‑08:00. The service operates 18:30‑08:00 Monday to Friday and 24 hours over the weekend.
Ideally you will be flexible to work around bank holidays and be available at short notice to cover sickness and cancellations, covering all sites across the service. When not driving you could also work on site in an admin capacity or at reception.
Main duties of the job- Safely driving Practice Plus Group clinicians to and from patient homes during out of hours shifts.
- Planning and managing routes efficiently to ensure timely arrival for scheduled visits.
- Assisting clinicians with navigation and any necessary logistics related to travel during shifts.
- Ensuring vehicle cleanliness, safety checks and maintenance reporting as required.
- Supporting the clinical team by being a reliable and professional presence during visits.
- Communicating effectively with the clinical and administrative teams to coordinate travel and schedules.
- Previous experience as a driver, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Valid UK driving licence with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safety at all times.
- Excellent time management and route planning skills.
- Good communication skills and a team‑oriented approach.
- A caring attitude and the ability to work professionally within a fast‑paced healthcare setting.
