Job Overview

Applications are invited for the post of Equipment Technician based at Ysbyty Bryn Y Neuadd, Llanfairfechan.

The North West Wales Community Equipment Service provides community equipment (mobility aids) to hospitals and members of the public across North West Wales. The service is a partnership between Gwynedd, Conwy and Anglesey County Council and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

The post holder will provide community equipment (mobility aids) to members of the public and community hospitals, giving advice, technical information and support to practitioners and therapists on equipment while providing a timely delivery and collection service provision and a decontamination service compliant with the National Minimum Standards for Community Equipment Services in Wales.

Main Duties
  • Provide a high standard of equipment knowledge to customers and professionals, ensuring appropriate equipment is prescribed to meet individual needs.
  • Monitor and maintain financial information for the Service Manager in relation to the joint pooled budget allocation for the North West Wales Community Equipment Service.
  • Efficiently record and monitor testing/servicing results for lifting equipment to comply with health and safety legislation, namely Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (1998) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (1998).
  • Record information relating to service users onto the secure database system whilst complying with data protection guidance.
  • Occasionally deliver equipment into patients’ houses, which includes driving a Health Board vehicle and decontaminating equipment once collected.

Ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Good standard of general education including knowledge of MS Office software.
  • BTEC Level 3 in Disabled Living Trusted Assessor Course or relevant proven experience.
Experience
  • Experience of assembling equipment and following assembly instructions.
  • Conversant with Health and Safety Regulations including COSHH.
Aptitude & Abilities
  • Demonstrates an ability to prioritise own workload and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as alone.
  • Adheres to the risk assessment of the working environment on a daily basis and is responsible for assessing and reporting any risks when out in the community.
