Lying close to the shores of Loch Ness, Drumnadrochit is the beautiful highland setting of Drumnadrochit Medical Practice.
The practice has three substantive GPs (76.5 hours / 1.9
WTE) plus these vacant post's (73.5 hours). There is a full administrative support team, a Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistant for a growing practice population of approximately 2600 patients. The practice has input from Community Nursing, the Macmillan Service, a Practice Pharmacist, First Contact Physiotherapist, Community Mental Health worker, Community Link Worker, visiting Podiatrist and Midwife. Other local services include a supportive pharmacy right next door.
The practice premises were purpose built in 2015 and provide excellent, spacious, modern accommodation. The GP day includes a mix of consulting and patient administrative tasks; there is a hybrid model of appointments including face to face (15 minutes as standard), telephone and home visiting. The GP rota involves morning and afternoon duty doctor sessions, with occasional full day duty if required due to GP leave.
There is no out of hours commitment. There are no care homes in the area but there is a very supportive, elderly day care centre.
There are regular GP meetings, Practice Meetings for the whole team and the Practice Quality Lead links into the Black Isle Corridor Cluster. Salaried GPs are expected to take an active role in practice development, quality improvement and clinical governance.
Drumnadrochit Medical Practice Patient Participation Group was established in 2002 and continues to actively meet.
The practice uses the Vision Hosted clinical system, Docman for receiving electronic results and letters from secondary care, and has Windows 10 operating system.
The practice population is based mainly in Drumnadrochit, although the practice boundary does extend along Glen Urquhart and the Great Glen. We are near Glen Affric, which is often described as "the most beautiful glen in Scotland", and the instantly recognisable Urquhart Castle. The practice is only 15 miles from the city of Inverness, where you will find Raigmore, the main hospital of the Highlands.
The nearest railway station is also in Inverness and Inverness airport is 24 miles from Drumnadrochit.
Becoming part of this friendly and co-operative team will offer you work in a stunning location and embrace the unique challenges and opportunities presented by rural practice.
