Support Worker
· 38 hrs per week
· No care experience needed
If someone you love is autistic, or has a learning disability, you know things that can’t be taught in a classroom. You know how to stay calm when things feel overwhelming. You know the importance of routine, of patience, of celebrating progress that others might overlook. You know that the right support changes everything.
At Mac Intyre, we support young people with autism and learning disabilities in two children’s homes in the village of Wingrave. We’re looking for people who bring that kind of quiet, hard-won understanding to work with them every day.
“One young person joined our home feeling incredibly anxious and bound by strict routines. With consistent, patient support, they gradually built the confidence to manage everyday situations independently and form meaningful friendships.”
What the role looks likeYou’ll work one-to-one with a young person, supporting their morning routine, accompanying them into the community, helping them try new things at their own pace. The small wins here are anything but small.
Shift Patterns- Early shifts: 7:00 am – 2:00/3:00 pm
- Late shifts: 2:00/3:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Mix of early and late shifts, every other weekend, with a weekday off to keep balance in check.
What we offer- Fully funded Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare earned while you work
- A supportive team around you. You are never working alone
- Comprehensive training from day one. No care background required
Wingrave is a rural village with no public transport. You’ll need a manual UK driving licence as you’ll be driving our vehicles to take young people out into the community.
About YouYou don’t need a background in care to thrive, here, we hire based on values. If you are naturally positive, love helping people, and genuinely care about inclusion, you are exactly who we are looking for.
Who are we?We have four modern houses within the school campus adjacent to the heart of the village of Wingrave. Each house accommodates up to five young people in their own bedrooms, decorated and equipped to their individual tastes. The homes are registered in pairs, which means you will work over two homes supporting up to ten young people with the support of a large staff team and experienced home managers.
We’re absolutely delighted to announce that following our recent Ofsted inspection, our children's homes were awarded a glowing 'Good' rating! The inspectors had some truly wonderful feedback which highlighted our inclusive practices and support for individual development.
We celebrate the successes and personal gifts of each child – we want our staff to be aspirational for the young people we support. When presented with new challenges, our teams collaborate to ensure the homes remain a supportive place to come to work.
Training and DevelopmentAt Macintyre we fully support your training and development to become the best Support Worker you can be. Throughout your probation and thereafter, you will receive a mixture of eLearning, face‑to‑face training, mentoring and access to quality specialists, HR, and learning & development teams, all free of charge, to help you achieve professional qualifications and career progress.
