Job Overview

To act in a supportive role to the nursing team to assist in the delivery of quality care to patients in the renal haemodialysis setting. To maintain good relationships with patients, colleagues and visitors, and to provide the highest standard of nursing care to all patients undergoing haemodialysis, contributing to the overall efficiency and development of the renal service.

Main Duties of the Job

As a Clinical Support Worker level 2, you will provide vital assistance to patients and support them with their physical and emotional care needs. You will assist healthcare professionals in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients. This is a responsible and rewarding role with a direct impact on patients’ lives.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Commitment to, and successful completion of, the STH 5‑day Healthcare Support Worker programme on commencing employment (full‑time after appointment, upon induction) or previous completion of the programme within 12 months prior to employment.
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade D or above (or relevant equivalent qualification or level of ability, including Functional Skills Level
    1).
  • Care Certificate from an approved awarder, or commitment to successful completion within 12 weeks from start of employment.
  • Level 2 Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Health Care / health‑related subject or equivalent experience.
Experience
  • Experience of working in a caring environment or as a carer.
  • Experience of multi‑professional and team working.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Willingness to undertake training as required specific to the post.
  • Effective communication with patients and colleagues, including sensitive issues, with tact and empathy.
  • Insight and understanding into the role applied for, delivering care to meet patient needs.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and knowledge of how to maintain it.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions to complete assigned tasks.
  • IT literate and comfortable with computer systems.
