We are looking to recruit a friendly, enthusiastic, and hard‑working Patient Advisor to join our dedicated team at South Wight Medical Practice.
Our Patient Advisors play a key role in supporting our patients by providing healthcare navigation and signposting, ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate care to meet their needs. This is a busy and rewarding role that requires excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
About the RoleAs a Patient Advisor, you will be the vital link between our patients and the Practice. Your responsibilities will include:
- Handling patient enquiries both face‑to‑face and over the telephone
- Providing guidance and signposting to appropriate services
- Carrying out a range of administrative duties
- Supporting the smooth day‑to‑day running of the Practice
- Delivering a professional, empathetic, and helpful service at all times
The ideal candidate will:
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be highly motivated, organised, and able to work under pressure
- Demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach
- Have basic computer skills
- Be able to travel between sites (own transport is essential)
Previous experience in General Practice or a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.
Training and DevelopmentWe welcome applications from candidates without prior General Practice experience. Full training will be provided for the successful applicant, including support in:
- Medical terminology
- Patient communication and customer service
- Healthcare navigation and signposting
- Practice systems and administrative processes
You will be supported by experienced colleagues and given opportunities for ongoing development to build your confidence and skills within the role.
About UsSouth Wight Medical Practice is a rural, dispensing GP Practice located on the Isle of Wight. We operate across three sites in the villages of Godshill, Niton, and Brighstone, serving a population of approximately 6,500 patients.
