Assistant Cardiac Physiologist
The Sussex Cardiac Centre is based in Brighton at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. This is a very exciting time to join the Trust as we are undergoing extensive modernisation and redevelopment. The 3
Ts project is transforming the Royal Sussex County site, delivering a state‑of‑the‑art environment and services. The new Cardiac Diagnostics department is based in the Louisa Martindale Building at the centre of this project.
We are a very busy department providing a wide range of investigations and are looking to expand our team.
Responsibilities- Record ECGs and other basic non‑invasive cardiac investigations within the cardiac departments at the Royal Sussex County and Princess Royal Hospitals.
- Assume a role within cardiac clinical physiology services and, under supervision, undertake basic cardiac clinical physiology procedures such as recording electrocardiograms (ECGs).
- Assist the cardiac clinical physiologists in more complex procedures e.g. implantable cardiac monitors, cardiac and respiratory exercise tolerance testing, and tilt‑table testing.
- After appropriate training, undertake ECG interpretation with supervision.
- Support departmental administration as required, liaising with other professionals to ensure patients receive cardiac physiology procedures in a timely manner.
- Articulate with good written and spoken English.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to people of all ages in a confident and caring manner.
- No previous experience is required; full on‑site training will be provided.
- Desire to develop ECG interpretation skills and expand the role within the department.
Work to the standards set by the Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (SCST) and the British Cardiac Society (BCS).
