Job Introduction

The Support Worker will make a real difference to residents' lives by improving their daily living skills. Working LocationYou will be working in one of our Extra Care block of flats in Carlisle, providing 24‑hour support for adults with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. The role includes 1‑to‑1 support and responding to needs when required.
Shift PatternsThis is a 24‑hour service, so flexibility is essential. You will work a range of shifts, including nights and some weekends.
Responsibilities- Promote the independence of people we support.
- Support a full range of daily activities, including cleaning, cooking, days out, holidays, and arranging activities at home and in the local community.
- Develop residents' life skills and personal interests.
- Help residents stay safe and healthy.
- Assist with personal care needs and manual handling.
- Support people with medication.
- Ensure record keeping is maintained to the required standard at all times.
- Contribute to service monitoring requirements.
- Passionate, caring, and enthusiastic.
- Flexible, patient, and non‑judgemental.
- Great team player with lots of energy.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to complete physical aspects of the role, including manual handling where needed.
- Drivers' licence required due to the needs of the people we support.
- Knowledge of learning disabilities and complex needs is beneficial but not essential.
