PositionOccupational Therapist based at University Hospital Crosshouse – permanent role under the Band 6 Occupational Therapist.
Hours36 hours per week Monday‑Friday.
Required LicenceA full UK driving licence is essential.
What You Will DoYou will work within the Occupational Therapy Team under the direction of the Band 6 Occupational Therapist. Based in the community covering East Ayrshire, you will provide quality services to support clients with a range of alcohol and drug complexities, including physical, mental health and functional difficulties. You will:
- Work in partnership with multidisciplinary colleagues and the wider Occupational Therapy service.
- Manage a caseload, using evidence‑based principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions to promote recovery.
- Empower service users to achieve their goals and remain as independent and active as possible.
- Participate in service improvement activities.
- Communicate effectively with service users, multidisciplinary teams and the local recovery network.
- Develop networks with colleagues across health, local authority and partner agencies.
To be eligible for this position you must:
- Hold a Diploma, BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy (or registration pending).
- Be registered or pending registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Have a sound understanding of Occupational Therapy, demonstrated through CPD and evidence of knowledge.
- Possess varied clinical experience, with experience in Addictions, Recovery or Mental Health desirable.
- Show evidence of sound clinical knowledge and skills.
- Understand current agendas influencing Addictions services and client recovery journeys.
- Have excellent communication and rapport‑building skills with service users and colleagues.
- Be committed to personal development with evidence of self‑directed learning; addiction‑specific training will be offered.
- Complete mandatory statutory training (MAST) and the role‑specific MAST in post. New graduates must complete the NHS Flying Start programme within the first year after graduation and achieve registration within six months.
