PositionInfection Control Nurse (permanent) based at Lister Street, University Hospital Crosshouse.
Hours36 hours per week. From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.
Right to WorkApplicants must have a UK driving licence and the appropriate right to work in the United Kingdom. Sponsorship may be offered for suitable candidates, subject to the minimum salary threshold and other criteria.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will be a core member of the Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT) reporting directly to the Infection Control Nurse Team Lead.
Professional Requirements- First‑level registered nurse with relevant clinical experience
- Evidence of post‑registration education and training
- Commitment to undertake an appropriate Infection Control Qualification (diploma, degree or master’s level)
- Practical experience of undertaking and reporting on audits as well as preparing and delivering education and training, including presentations
- Keen interest in infection prevention and control
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
- Car driver with own transport and valid driving licence
- Comprehensive knowledge of the NHS Scotland HAI agenda, including national infection control guidelines and policies
- Ability to translate infection control theory into practice
- IT skills including use of Microsoft Office, Internet, e‑mail, digital photography software
- Ability to establish and maintain databases for recording and analysis of surveillance and audit data
