About the Role

Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Oakwood, a category C prison located in Wolverhampton. HMP Oakwood is one of the largest prisons in the UK, housing over 1,500 men.

Hours

37.5 hours per week. Monday‑Friday 8am‑4pm with a 4‑week shift plan.

Salary

£59,677 – £66,792 per annum.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Demonstrate judgement in assessing and managing a wide range of complex patient problems.
  • Provide clinical leadership for the mental health team, a multidisciplinary group of registered and non‑registered professionals including mental health and substance misuse practitioners.
  • Act as a role model, ensuring professional appearance and maintaining professional standards at all times.
  • Support senior clinicians on site, acting as part of the daily leadership team and providing clinical input for all patients.
  • Work with the team to ensure patient safety, manage complex cases, and apply the most up‑to‑date treatment methodology in patient care.
Qualifications Required
  • Registered Nurse – NMC in adult or mental health.
  • Independent/supplementary prescriber qualification.
  • RSCP Part 1 & 2 – essential.
  • Experience in substance misuse prescribing – essential.
  • MSc in Advanced Practice.
  • Experience working autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner following best practice guidance.

Ideal applicants may also have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
