About the Role
Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Oakwood, a category C prison located in Wolverhampton. HMP Oakwood is one of the largest prisons in the UK, housing over 1,500 men.
The Site Offers- Free Parking
- Gym Access
37.5 hours per week. Monday‑Friday 8am‑4pm with a 4‑week shift plan.
Salary£59,677 – £66,792 per annum.

Candidates must have a legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What You’ll Be Doing- Demonstrate judgement in assessing and managing a wide range of complex patient problems.
- Provide clinical leadership for the mental health team, a multidisciplinary group of registered and non‑registered professionals including mental health and substance misuse practitioners.
- Act as a role model, ensuring professional appearance and maintaining professional standards at all times.
- Support senior clinicians on site, acting as part of the daily leadership team and providing clinical input for all patients.
- Work with the team to ensure patient safety, manage complex cases, and apply the most up‑to‑date treatment methodology in patient care.
- Registered Nurse – NMC in adult or mental health.
- Independent/supplementary prescriber qualification.
- RSCP Part 1 & 2 – essential.
- Experience in substance misuse prescribing – essential.
- MSc in Advanced Practice.
- Experience working autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner following best practice guidance.
Ideal applicants may also have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
