Telford and Wrekin Community Mental Health Service provides assessment and evidence‑based interventions for people presenting with complex mental health difficulties that significantly impact on daily life, in partnership with other organisations.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 7 Mental Health Nurse Practitioner / Non‑Medical Prescriber for a fixed term of 7 months.

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual who is a registered Non‑Medical Prescriber (NMP) with experience working within a community setting. As a registered professional, you will be committed to providing a high‑quality service and supporting improved access to care and treatment for service users.

Ideally you will have experience working with service users with a range of mental health diagnoses/formulations. You will act as an autonomous prescriber and effectively manage a dedicated caseload.

You will work predominantly with service users registered within the South East and Teldoc PCN areas in the Telford and Wrekin area, acting as a non‑medical prescriber to complete assessments, reviews and prescribing for service users deemed appropriate for this service.

You will carry out assessments, reviews and associated prescribing for service users following agreed practice guidelines as part of a multi‑disciplinary team and will provide care coordination.

You will review service users who have medication prescribed in primary care and require an annual review for ongoing care.

You will be responsible for the development, implementation and review of care planning and risk management.

You will deliver a high‑quality clinical service to service users, their families and carers in the community.

• A qualified/registered mental health nurse with a diploma‑level qualification in the sphere of professional practice
• Additional specialist training in Non‑Medical Prescribing V300
• Evidence of professional updating and development within mental health services
• Leadership Course completion
• Specialist training in relevant areas

• Experience working with complex and challenging needs
• Significant demonstrable experience delivering therapeutic interventions to clients within a mental health setting
• Experience working with a range of statutory and non‑statutory agencies
• Evidence of experience in education of nurses and/or multi‑professional groups
• Experience of working therapeutically in a community setting
• Experience supervising junior staff

• Knowledge of various approaches to mental health assessment
• Knowledge of therapeutic approaches appropriate for complex and challenging needs in mental health care
• Knowledge/awareness of relevant legislation and guidance, including the Mental Health Act (1983), Community Care Act (1990), Human Rights Act (1998), National Service Framework, Clinical Governance, Capacity Act, and safeguarding policies
• Knowledge and experience of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working
