Overview
Talking Therapies is a high‑quality, evidence‑based provider of psychological therapies for adults experiencing common mental health difficulties. This role is within the established Northumberland Talking Therapies service and involves working with people who need specialist psychological interventions beyond those typically delivered within NHS Talking Therapies, but who do not require secondary care coordination.
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £57,528 per annum (NHS Band 8a)
Location:

- Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and evidence‑based interventions for individuals with moderate to complex mental health presentations.
- Manage your own clinical caseload and conduct comprehensive risk assessments, developing effective risk‑management plans where required.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the service through clinical supervision, consultation, audit, service evaluation and the promotion of evidence‑based practice.
- Support teaching, training and colleague development to maintain high clinical standards across the service.
- Participate in some evening and occasional Saturday work to meet the needs of the people we support.
- Recognised professional qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (HCPC registered) or a core mental health qualification (e.g., RMN, Social Work, Occupational Therapy) plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
- BABCP accredited (or accreditable) as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and trained in at least one additional psychological therapy model.
- Substantial experience working within NHS Talking Therapies services and a thorough understanding of the stepped‑care model.
- Experience with individuals presenting complex mental health needs, including trauma and comorbidity.
- Confidence in undertaking psychological assessments, risk assessments and developing risk‑management plans.
- Experience providing NICE‑compliant clinical supervision to qualified or trainee therapists.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build effective therapeutic relationships and collaborate with colleagues and partner organisations.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational skills and competence with electronic clinical record systems and outcome measures.
- £57,528 per annum (NHS Band 8a).
