About

the role
  • Provide comprehensive secretarial support to medical consultants and clinical teams.
  • Produce accurate and timely medical correspondence, clinic letters, reports, and documentation.
  • Manage consultant diaries, appointment schedules, and administrative workflows.
  • Act as a key point of contact for patients, consultants, GPs, and internal departments, delivering a professional and responsive service.
  • Ensure patient records and clinical information are maintained accurately and confidentially.
  • Support the efficient management of patient pathways and clinic activities.
  • Respond to telephone and email enquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Contribute to the delivery of organisational objectives through effective administration and communication.
  • Maintain organised systems and processes to support the smooth running of the department.
Skills and experience required

You will be a highly organised individual with excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

  • Significant previous experience in a Medical Secretarial role.
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent customer care and communication skills with a professional, patient-focused approach.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and clinical systems.
  • Proven ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • A flexible, reliable, and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • AMSPAR qualification or other Medical Secretarial/Secretarial certification.
  • Previous experience within a private healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administration processes.
