Flexi-Bank Sonographer

As a Flexi-Bank Sonographer, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional diagnostic imaging and patient care, while supporting the day-to-day operation of the ultrasound service. You will work closely with colleagues across the department, acting as a clinical expert and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and patient experience.

The Benenden Flexi Bank offers you total flexibility to choose shifts that are offered to you. It is ideal for people who have other commitments in their lives, but are still able to work a reasonable number of hours each month. Alternatively, you may be looking to boost your income, without being tied to set hours each week. Your hours are not guaranteed, and fluctuate with the needs of the hospital.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide high standards of ultrasonography imaging and patient care, adhering to hospital policies, protocols and guidelines while promoting a patient-focused approach.
• Be responsible for the safe and effective day-to-day running of the ultrasound service within the department.
• Produce high-quality sonographic images and reports, ensuring that any abnormal findings are escalated promptly to the appropriate Consultant.
• Act as a clinical expert and resource for sonography within the department and across the wider organisation.
• Support and mentor junior members of the team, including Radiographic Department Assistants (RDAs) and administration staff, assisting with training and development needs.
• Actively contribute to departmental objectives through participation in service development initiatives, in-service training, audits and peer review activities.
• Manage daily workloads effectively, supporting colleagues and administration staff to ensure the smooth running of the department.
• Ensure all patient care areas and ultrasound equipment are safe, fit for purpose and maintained to the highest standards.
• Participate in the Hospital’s staff performance review process and maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Promote reflective practice and encourage a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Participate in audit activities and quality improvement programmes.
• Maintain the safety of equipment, patients, visitors and staff within the working environment.
• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity and respect are maintained at all times.
• Demonstrate flexibility in working patterns, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays, to support service requirements.

• Hold an appropriate ultrasound qualification and relevant professional registration where applicable.
• Have substantial experience working as a Sonographer in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrate excellent scanning, reporting and clinical decision-making skills.
• Be committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
• Be confident supporting and developing colleagues through teaching, mentorship and shared learning.
• Have a proactive approach to audit, quality improvement and continuous professional development (CPD).
