The Scottish Ambulance Service is recruiting motivated and experienced clinicians to join our specialist National Risk & Resilience Department as a Civil Contingencies Response Team (CCRT) Training Officer.

Following significant Scottish Government investment, the Civil Contingencies Response Programme represents a major national initiative designed to strengthen Scotland's ability to respond to operationally challenging incidents, major emergencies and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNe) response.

This is a unique opportunity to combine specialist education and training with frontline operational response. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining CCRT capability across Scotland, delivering specialist training to CCRT and Special Operations Response Teams (SORT), ensuring staff are prepared to respond safely and effectively to CBRNe incidents, hazardous materials emergencies and major incidents.

Alongside your training responsibilities, you will participate in a 24/7 operational response rota, deploying as a CCRT Officer to provide specialist operational support, command support and technical advice during complex and challenging incidents. Working as part of a small national team, you will help shape and deliver specialist education, training and exercising programmes that support both CCRT and SORT, helping staff develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required to operate safely in CBRNe, hazardous material and major incident environments.

Working as part of the NRRD Training & Education team, you will:

• Deliver specialist CCRT and SORT training programmes across Scotland.
• Design and develop innovative learning solutions, exercises and simulation activities.
• Deliver practical and classroom-based education to operational staff and partner agencies.
• Assess competence and provide ongoing learner support and feedback.
• Support national exercising, preparedness and resilience programmes.
• Maintain accurate training records and quality assurance documentation.
• Participate in a 24/7 operational roster and deploy as a CCRT Officer when required.
• Provide specialist operational advice and command support during incidents.
• Support the continuing development of emerging specialist capabilities.

This role forms part of a growing national programme and will continue to evolve as specialist response capabilities develop across Scotland. In addition to delivering specialist CCRT training, successful candidates will contribute to the future development and delivery of additional specialist programmes including:

• Major Incident Mass Casualty (MIMC)
• Marauding Terrorist Attack (MTA)
• Specialist operational response and resilience training
• Multi-agency exercising and preparedness activities

We are seeking motivated and adaptable individuals with a passion for developing others and improving operational capability. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

• Current registration as a Paramedic with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Significant operational experience as a registered Paramedic within a pre-hospital emergency care environment.
• Experience delivering education, training and assessment in clinical, operational or emergency response settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to motivate, mentor and develop others working independently and as part of a specialist national team.
• Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.
• Sound decision-making skills, including in pressured and dynamic environments.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• A commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
