An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our UCAT team where you will be integral to ensuring safe and effective delivery of care.

Our UCAT team operates a 24/7 day service and is responsible for providing same day/emergency mental health responses to circa 375,000 population of Fife. You will be a key member of our UCAT team, adopting a pro-active, therapeutic, person-centred approach to care delivery. You will work alongside registered nurses and other members of the wider team in providing care and support to people who experience a range of mental health difficulties which may impact on their wellbeing, safety and day to day functioning.

Referrals are received from various sources including Victoria Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED), Primary Care as well as referrals from both internal and external agencies. The post holder will be responsible for recording all appointments via electronic systems and sending information to primary care regarding assessment outcomes. As part of the UCAT team, duties may include: assisting with the provision of trauma informed care including the management of distress and disturbed behaviour;

liaising with and co-ordinating other services; reporting any changes in patient presentation to registered nurse colleagues; provide one to one care and support under supervision including observation and/or escorting patients; support administration and record keeping; ordering department stock and supplies and participating in the wider service activities as required including deployment to support other clinical areas where necessary. These tasks will be delivered either supervised or unsupervised with guidance from a registered nurse.

This post holder will also be responsible for effectively carrying out assigned duties to contribute to the effective running, safety and security of the designated clinical area. This role will be based in Kirkcaldy but may involve travel to other localities.
