Bank Cardiac Sonographer

Spire Dunedin Hospital is seeking a bank cardiac sonographer to support its Cardiology Outpatient Service. The work centres on echocardiography scans for adult and adolescent patients, with reporting, patient assessment and input into new cardiac services and quality improvement. Shifts are flexible and often cover busy periods, sickness or annual leave, so this is a bank role rather than a fixed post.

Fit depends on BSE registration and post-qualification echocardiography experience, with adolescent scanning ideal rather than required.

• Perform echocardiography scans on adult and adolescent patients following BSE guidance
• Assess the health and wellbeing of patients across a complex, changing caseload
• Produce reports on scans
• Help implement new cardiac services
• Contribute to quality improvement
• Use technology for measurement, monitoring and treatment
• Recognise the risk of healthcare-associated infections and take responsibility for preventing them

• BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent
• Completion of BSE

• BSE registration

• Post-qualification experience in echocardiography

• Ability to scan adult patients
• Detail-oriented thinking, interpersonal skills and technological aptitude
