BAM is seeking an Early Careers Advisor to support the delivery, growth and continuous development of our Early Careers programmes across Scotland, including apprenticeships, graduate apprenticeships, undergraduate placements and graduate schemes.
Reporting to the Early Careers Apprenticeship Manager, you will be the primary Early Careers contact across Scotland, working closely with learners, line managers, training providers, universities and business stakeholders to ensure an exceptional learner experience from attraction through to programme completion.
This role will require regular travel across Scotland, including project sites, training providers, universities and BAM offices, supporting a geographically dispersed early careers population.
Scotland is a key growth area for BAM, with teams delivering major energy and infrastructure projects that support the UK’s net‑zero ambitions. From electricity transmission infrastructure and substations to converter stations and renewable energy connections, our projects play a vital role in strengthening the energy network, improving energy security, and enabling the transition to a more sustainable future.
Your team- This role can be based at either our Kilsyth or Inverness office in Scotland and requires regular travel throughout Scotland.
- Act as the lead support on Scotland apprenticeships, graduate and undergraduate programmes supported by the apprenticeship manager/graduate lead alongside other specialist programme development
- Support the full-cycle recruitment, enrolment and onboarding process for early careers roles, ensuring participants have the necessary resources to succeed
- Assist in delivering high-quality recruitment and assessment for early careers programmes
- Provide guidance and pastoral support to early careers talent/line managers throughout their journey, ensuring professional growth and programme engagement. Dealing with day‑to‑day queries
- Gather feedback from learners, line managers and training providers to support continuous improvement. Contribute ideas and recommendations to enhance learner experience, programme quality and operational effectiveness
- Develop and strengthen BAM’s presence within Scotland and engage with key stakeholders including, universities and Skills Development Scotland. Support key growth areas including excellence in sustainability and digital construction
- Collaborate with internal teams, training providers, and other external partners to ensure best‑in‑class programme delivery and compliance including funding rules and standards
- Work in partnership with key stakeholders such as social sustainability and communications teams to support attraction campaigns and connect talent to early career programmes.
- Support and guide managers with onboarding, programme management, and early careers development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate programme records, track key metrics, and report insights to stakeholders
- Support engaging inductions to ensure new hires are prepared for success as well as other learning‑based initiatives.
- Drive early careers professional development activities, working alongside the Professional Development Manager to provide relevant learning opportunities related to a range of pathways.
- Support the programmes Early Careers event calendar providing internal/external communication and marketing.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Scotland with occasional travel outside of Scotland for team events and meetings.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship funding, educational learning frameworks, and relevant Scottish regulations.
- Experience in HR, further education, training provision or equivalent advisory roles.
- Experience of recruitment cycles and related HR systems.
- Effective organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Experience working with colleges, universities or training providers and/or experience supporting apprentices, graduates or undergraduate populations.
