Location: London (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 Months (Initially)
Hourly Salary: 28.50

IR35: Inside (Must use an umbrella company)

Overview

An experienced Application Support Engineer is required to provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for business-critical applications within a higher education environment. The role focuses on application stability, security, performance, and continuous improvement, working closely with internal teams and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Level 2 and Level 3 application support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents and issues

  • Implement configuration changes, upgrades, and enhancements

  • Manage application and infrastructure patching

  • Coordinate with third-party vendors on maintenance and upgrades

  • Support security, compliance, and data protection requirements

  • Maintain technical documentation and user guidance

  • Engage with business and technical stakeholders to support change and improvement

  • Contribute to application roadmaps and planning

  • Deliver user training where required

Essential Experience
  • Proven experience in application support (L2/L3)

  • Experience with service management systems and processes

  • Strong knowledge of configuration management, patching, and application security

  • Experience in a customer-facing IT support role

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Knowledge of UK Higher Education systems and processes

  • Understanding of UK GDPR / data protection

Desirable
  • Experience working in Higher Education

  • Familiarity with agile delivery

  • ITIL or relevant application certifications

  • Willing to support occasional out-of-hours work
